Suppression list

People Engage will never email, and why that protects you.

The suppression list is your safety net. Anyone on it is never sent email, no matter which list or segment they belong to.

How people end up here

Engage adds contacts automatically to protect your sender reputation — typically after:

  • A hard bounce — the address doesn't exist
  • A spam complaint — the recipient marked you as junk
  • An unsubscribe — they opted out

Reviewing the list

Open Contacts → Suppression List. Search by email to check whether a specific address is suppressed. The table shows the email, the date it was Suppressed On, and the reason.

The Suppression List

Suppressed contacts and why

Why this matters

Inbox providers judge you on bounces and complaints. Repeatedly mailing dead addresses or people who reported you is the fastest way to end up in the spam folder for *everyone* — including the customers who do want to hear from you. Suppression stops that automatically.

⚠️

Never try to work around suppression by re-importing a suppressed address. If someone unsubscribed, mailing them again is both a deliverability problem and, in most jurisdictions, a legal one.

ℹ️

The suppression list requires a Starter plan or above.
